INSPIRED MONTRÉAL
5 days of Art, Fashion, Food and Design for Women
May 27-31, 2009
In the heart of Montréal is a tiny tea shop, Au Festin de Babette, or Babette’s Feast - filled with delightful pastries, imported French treats, decadent chocolates, elegant pizzas, exotic teas, and more. The shop is a wonderful metaphor for the bounty, beauty, variety and exuberance that characterize the surrounding neighborhood.
This neighborhood - known as the Plateau - will be our base as we experience the vibrant city of Montréal from the inside out, exploring its French connections and joie de vivre as we go!
For five days, we’ll immerse ourselves in the city’s most inspiring art, fashion, food, and design.
We’ll discover the secrets of The Plateau - a neighborhood crisscrossed with bike paths, dotted with parks, populated by French speakers, and home to the highest density of artists in Canada.
We’ll also get to know Montréal beyond our quartier: we’ll sip coffee in Little Italy; wander narrow lanes and admire architecture in Le Vieux Port, or Old Montréal; visit museums and shop in the city’s chic downtown.
What's special about this trip
- We'll spend much of our time off the beaten path in French-speaking Montréal. We'll experience the city as the locals do, and meet people who live and work there.
- We'll tap the European influences that make Montréal a leading center of art, fashion and design.
- We'll indulge ourselves in the city's joie de vivre - encouraging enjoyment and understanding of this vibrant city, and assuring rejuvenation and inspiration.
- We'll balance group time and independent exploration. Our small group - 4-5 women, each with a single room - gives you your own space, while allowing opportunities for meaningful connections and stimulating conversations.

8 - 10 pm: We'll take in the multi-ethnic, village atmosphere of Duluth St in the Plateau, and dine at a BYOW (bring your own wine) restaurant. Perhaps a jazz club after dinner.
